Becky Lynch reflected on separating her shoulder at WWE SummerSlam 2022 and recovering from the injury.
At WWE SummerSlam 2022, Lynch challenged Bianca Belair for the Raw Women's Championship. During the match, Lynch suffered a separated shoulder, and the injury sidelined her for a number of weeks. She made her return the day before WWE Survivor Series: WarGames in November, and she has since regained her status as one of WWE's top stars.
Speaking with Cosmopolitan UK, Lynch was asked to name the worst move that went wrong in the ring, and she looked back on injuring her shoulder in her match against Belair.
"The worst move that went wrong in the ring was at my expense. It was a Glam Slam from Bianca Belair onto me last SummerSlam. I ended up separating my shoulder, and I was out for four months. So that would probably be the worst, which, touch wood, we're doing well," Lynch said.
Lynch went on to describe how coming back from the injury was mentally challenging, as she had never dealt with that kind of setback before. She described how it was difficult to deal with not being able to pick up her daughter due to the injury. Lynch noted that trying to figure out how to overcome that was an adjustment.
"Coming back from an injury was more mental than physical because I hadn't ever had an injury when I was in WWE that took me out for a substantial amount of time, and now I was out for four months. Especially when it initially happened, I had trouble picking up my daughter, and she didn't understand what was going on. So it kind of messed with my head a little bit in terms of, 'I don't want to get hurt,' and so for the first time ever in my career, I was scared of getting hurt, and I'd never had that before. So, trying to figure out how to overcome that was a bit of an adjustment," Lynch said.
