Billy Corgan Says Wrestlers Didn't Want To Work For NWA Due To No Entrance Themes

The National Wrestling Alliance has leaned into studio wrestling with NWA Powerrr and USA, having an intimate setting with an interview booth and little flash.

Fans may have noticed that wrestlers in the NWA don't have theme songs when they enter from the backstage area or that the competitors are already in the ring for the match.

Speaking to Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald, NWA owner Billy Corgan discussed the lack of themes in NWA.

"I have done a little bit of it," he said when asked if he provides the music for the NWA given his time as the Smashing Pumpkins frontman. "Mostly, we've used songs that already exist in my catalog. I love it and think it's such a cool thing. We have a great person that does the music for the NWA, when it's needed, Sheri Shaw, SStaria is her name. The thing is, we only use themes on pay-per-views. Powerrr and USA, we don't use themes. It was very controversial. When we first did it, there were wrestlers that didn't want to work for us because they weren't given entrance themes. They were actually mad. I said, 'Sorry, we're just not doing entrance themes here. I don't have time for it.' It is what it is. It's part of what makes Powerrr such a crazy, awkward, beautiful thing that it is."

NWA will be back on pay-per-view, where entrance themes will be used, on August 27 and 28 with two nights of NWA 74.
