Bobby Fish has high hopes for his tag team partner and fellow Undisputed ERA stablemate Kyle O'Reilly and what he's able to do on his own.
O'Reilly challenged Finn Balor for the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver 31, a match that was critically acclaimed by many. When Fish spoke with Sports Illustrated about O'Reilly and the two wrestlers' styles, he said O'Reilly's ability to blend wrestling and MMA styles in a match is impeccable and viewers got to see that in the match against Balor.
“Our styles are different, but there is a common thread between what we both do,” Fish said. “There is a discipline to pro wrestling and martial arts, and there is no substitute for repetition. MMA has a strong influence on pro wrestling these days, but if you’re going to do that, you can’t fake it. You need to know your stuff. We’ve been sharpening that sword over two continents in multiple companies. A culmination of that was Kyle’s TakeOver match with Finn Balor. Kyle blends the two worlds, and that’s also what keeps my flame burning.”
Fish even went as far as to call O'Reilly his favorite wrestler and added that the former NXT title challenger will surprise people with his skillset.
“I’ll be honest, Kyle is my favorite wrestler. He’s going to astonish people with how well he does what he does," Fish said.
