Bobby Lashley has fight plans beyond WWE and hopes to forward with those plans next year.
During an interview with WWE's The Bump, Lashley, who has had experience fighting in MMA, mentioned that he recently had a meeting with bare knuckle fighting promotion BKFC and said he hopes to potentially have a fight for the promotion in 2021 if Vince McMahon gives him the green light to do so.
"Man, I'm very basic. I'm a fighter, I love to fight, I love to compete. I wrestled my entire life, amateur wrestled my entire life. I've been fighting, I mean, I just met with the bare knuckle guys and talked to them about possibly doing a bare knuckles fight, maybe next year if Vince allows me to do it. I like to fight, I like to train, I like to fight and I like to wrestle," Lashley said.
As far as his wrestling career is concerned, Lashley is coming off a win over Zack Ryder on the March 9 episode of Raw. Lashley said the match was him trying to get back to his roots and become the old Bobby Lashley. Although his spot at WrestleMania isn't set in stone, he's ready to become a contender for the WWE Championship and face the winner of the title match between Brock Lesnar and Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36.
"Since I've been back, we haven't seen that. I feel like I'm getting back to my roots after this match I had with Ryder. It kind of showed who I am, and what I'm about and I think the next few weeks leading up to WrestleMania, I think you're going to see more of that. Ultimately, either Drew is going to win or Brock is going to win. After one of those guys win, you gotta have some contenders and have some challengers and I just want to throw my name in the hat in the ring," Lashley said.
