Booker T discusses Drew McIntyre's WWE future and reports on his contractual status.
Drew McIntyre has not been seen since WrestleMania 39, where he was challenged for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. McIntyre was drafted to Monday Night Raw but has not returned to the brand following the draft.
Drew McIntyre was not even included in the tournament to crown a new World Heavyweight Champion at WWE Night of Champions.
Speaking about Drew McIntyre on a recent episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T brought up the current status of Drew McIntyre's contract, saying that perhaps his lack of inclusion in the title tournament was a clue to his current position with WWE.
“I heard Drew McIntyre’s contract is coming up, and he may be leaving to move on to other things. I don’t know. I don’t know how true that is. Him not being in this tournament kind of says a little bit of something, right? We’ll see how that plays out."
Booker T says that if it was his decision, it would all boil down to money, but seeing as Drew McIntyre has been in the WWE system twice now, Booker feels he could want a change of pace.
“I say keep it like it is. For me, it’s about guys being able to make money," he said. "I’m not looking for the monopoly in wrestling. I’m not looking to keep a guy if he don’t want to stay. If a guy want to leave, you let him leave. I think that right there opens up a little bit of everything as far as guys going from one side to the other and back. So if a guy want to leave, let him leave. Drew McIntyre, he’s put in work in WWE, not just once, but twice. He knows what that system is all about. One thing about being in the system, after you’ve been in the system sometimes for so long, you want to get out."
Booker T, who is no stranger to leaving a promotion and seeking work elsewhere, says that Drew McIntyre could be a star anywhere in the world.
"Any company in the world. Any company in the world, he'd be a star," said Booker.
