Booker T comments on John Cena's legacy in WWE.
While they didn't clash often for World Championships, Booker T and John Cena fought many times as Cena ascended to the top of the card in WWE. In 2004, Booker and Cena wrestled in a Best of Five series for the WWE United States Championship.
Now, John Cena is amid his retirement year in WWE, and Booker T, who is currently employed by WWE as a commentator on NXT, is speaking to TMZ Sports about John's legacy. He says that John will always be remembered as somebody who gave his all, despite any shortcomings, to make it to the top.
"[John Cena will be remembered as] the man who took what he had, made the best out of it, and took it all the way to the top. That's how John's going to be remembered. He wasn't the best wrestler in the world or anything like that. I always talk about that. You know, as far as John Cena goes, and it's not out of disrespect or anything like that, but John Cena, he knew how to go out and do -- I always talk to my students, I say, 'There's no wrong way of doing it, as long as you do it right. That's John Cena."
Booker T will now be helping coach the next generation of WWE superstars on WWE LFG on the A&E Network. Read more about what Booker expects for viewers of the show here.
