Booker T: If Will Ospreay Came To The United States, I'd Love To Work With Him

Booker T wants to work with Will Ospreay and teach him a thing or two.

Ospreay is widely regarded as one of the best wrestlers in the world. The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion is one of the top stars in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and he has also made a few appearances in AEW. In the past, he has also wrestled for ROH, PROGRESS, and a number of other promotions.

Speaking on The Hall of Fame podcast with his co-host, Brad Gilmore, Booker T shared his thoughts on Ospreay having the record for the most individual five-star matches. The WWE Hall of Famer described how sometimes the winner of a match actually loses because people like the other competitor more. Booker T then stated that whereas Ospreay is known for his wrestling style, the legend knows what it takes to make big money.

“I could see that. I could see that from the person that’s rating it. That’s no knock to Will Ospreay. Lot of times, people rate something higher because they like that…. I watch boxing all the time, and so many times, I’ve seen the winner lose so many times. So I’m like, it’s not that the the guy that won was better. It’s because the guy they wanted to win, they liked him more. That’s all it is. So I get that when I see Will Ospreay and someone who’s rating the matches likes that kind of stuff. A lot of flips, a lot of back and forth, a lot of ‘This is awesome’ chants. I get that, 100%. But for me, the worker, I know what it takes to go out there and get over and make some big money," Booker T said.

The WWE Hall of Famer went on to state that he'd love to work with Ospreay if the NJPW star came to the United States. He shared his belief that, in doing so, Ospreay could become a big star, and he'd like to work with him. Booker T also noted that he has had this conversation with Ospreay himself, and he didn't think he suggested anything that the latter wouldn't be open to.

"I’ll tell you right now, if Will Ospreay came to the United States, I’d love to work with that kid because, I think he could, I don’t know, he’s probably making big money right now, but I just think, over here in the states, I think he could really be a big star. I would love to work with that kid and really show him the detail [and] the art of Shakespeare. What’s crazy is, I’ve had this conversation with Will Ospreay, and I’m not saying anything that this kid, perhaps his mind would not be open to wanting to try," he said.

Ospreay has been sidelined with a shoulder injury since March, but he is set to return to NJPW Resurgence on May 21. More information is available here.

Tony Khan previously revealed that Ospreay was set to compete at ROH Supercard of Honor 2023 prior to his injury. Check out his comments here.
