Booker T speaks highly of Ilja Dragunov.
Former NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov defeated Ricochet to advance to the next round of the King of the Ring tournament on the May 6 episode of WWE Raw. Gunther and Jey Uso also advanced to the next round.
Speaking on The Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T was asked to share his thoughts on who would win the King of the Ring tournament. Co-host Brad Gilmore wondered whether Ilja Dragunov would face Gunther in the finals.
“That’s a hell of a matchup for it. It could be something to jump-start Ilja’s run on the main roster as well. Course, this could put a different look on Gunther. Who’s it gonna help the most? I think that’s the question. Who would they help the most? I don’t know. I don’t book it or anything. I don’t even want to call it. But if Ilja wins, I’m definitely gonna be in his corner because I love everything about Ilja Dragunov. I love this kid’s style and the way he approaches this business, his passion, his zeal. He brings it every single time. They’re gonna be talking about Ilja Dragunov 20 years from now, talking about how great of a wrestler, how great a performer, how he made me feel when I watched him. That’s what people are gonna be talking about," Booker T said.
Dragunov is set to face Jey Uso in the quarterfinals of the King of the Ring tournament on the May 13 episode of WWE Raw.
