Brandi Rhodes Takes Thumbtacks Bump, Wins Title Anyway

Brandi Rhodes’ journey as a pro wrestler got a lot more painful during WrestleMania 33 weekend.

As is tradition, many wrestling companies hold several shows during WrestleMania weekend on the city where the show of shows was taking place at. Joey Ryan’s DDT Pro Wrestling was one such company.

Rhodes battled Ryan for DDT Pro Wrestling Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship and Rhodes was thrown into a pile of thumbtacks after Ryan dumped them onto the mat. Rhodes was able to eventually recover from the thumbtacks spot and win the match by submitting Ryan.

It was Rhodes’ first ever title win since becoming a pro wrestler, but the reign didn’t even last the night. Pat Buck and Joey Ryan captured the title that same night after Rhodes won the title. Since Rhodes won the title, Ryan won the title twice, Buck, Swoggle and The Sandman each won the title for their first reign.

Rhodes, who spent several years as a ring announcer for WWE under the name of Eden Stiles, has been only been wrestling for under a year, competing for Impact Wrestling for most of the past six months.

Video of Rhodes getting slammed into the pile of thumbtacks and winning the match can be seen above.
