A new main event for WWE Crown Jewel.

To open Monday Night Raw, Roman Reigns announced that he is battling leukemia and will need time off. During his announcement, Reigns made the decision to relinquish the WWE Universal Title. Reigns was scheduled to face Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar in a triple threat bout at WWE Crown Jewel on Nov. 2.

An hour after Reigns' heartbreaking announcement, Michael Cole revealed that Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar will square off for the vacant Universal Title at Crown Jewel.

The Monster and The Beast previously met at No Mercy 2017. Lesnar entered that night as the Universal Champion and, after a hard-fought battle, retained his title. Lesnar also defeated Strowman in a triple threat bout, which also featured Kane, at Royal Rumble 2018.

At Hell in a Cell 2018, Lesnar cost Strowman his opportunity to win the Universal Title from Reigns. Lesnar interfered in the match, laying out both men and causing a no contest.
