Throughout the 80s and early 90s, WWE was the land of giants with the likes of Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior holding the WWE Championship.
By the mid-90s, things changed as there was more focus on the in-ring work as Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels rose to prominence.
In 2025, Bret can see the influence his generation has on today's product.
"When you watch a lot of the wrestlers today, you don’t see anybody imitating Hulk Hogan or Ultimate Warrior. You see a lot of the wrestlers today to really try their best to capture my style or some of the guys I worked with like Dynamite Kid, Curt Hennig, my brother Owen [Hart]. They are wrestling my style. That’s the biggest compliment I can get from today’s generation," Bret said while speaking to Ariel Helwani on The Ariel Helwani Show.
In the same interview, Bret stated that he finds most wrestlers today are more actors pretending to be wrestlers. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
