The announcement was made on the latest episode of Total Bellas.
On the March 10th edition of the E! Network series Total Bellas, Brie, Nikki and the current WWE Champion Daniel Bryan gathered their family at a beach and Brie made the announcement that she is retiring from in-ring competition to focus on motherhood and added that herself and Daniel Bryan were moving back to Phoenix. This episode of the show was taped after WWE's first-ever all-women's pay-per-view 'Evolution' which was partially headlined by Nikki Bella as she challenged Ronda Rousey for the RAW Women's Championship.
The former WWE Divas Champion Brie Bella returned to the ring for WWE in the summer of 2018 as she and her sister competed at house shows and at TV tapings on the road to 'Evolution'. Brie also had the opportunity to team with Daniel Bryan at the 2018 'Hell In A Cell' pay-per-view where they were defeated by The Miz and Maryse.
Brie openly admitted during a recent episode of Total Bellas that she fell into depression after being ridiculed online for failing to properly execute moves and the incident when she knocked out Liv Morgan on a September edition RAW. Brie's last match was on the October 10th episode of RAW and she stated the following on Total Bellas about her retirement:
“So I decided after Evolution, I’m gonna be fully retired. Fully done and that Bryan and I are looking for a house in Phoenix because we’re moving back." She revealed.
Nikki Bella was taken aback by Brie's announcement and thought that retirement would be something they discussed together.
“I’m a bit shocked right now hearing Brie say that she’s going to retire and move to Phoenix." Nikki said. "Like talk about dropping two huge bombs. I guess retirement, I always thought that’d be something Brie and I would talk about together. I just did not expect this big change after such an incredible comeback."
Brie and Nikki were a part of the evolution of the women's division in WWE and last night at Fastlane, Sasha Banks and Bayley added on to that when they successfully defended the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.
