Bryan Danielson is now more open to facing Nigel McGuinness at Wembley.
Prior to AEW All In last year, Nigel McGuinness was more than open about the fact that he wanted to not only compete on the show, but face off with old rival Bryan Danielson at Wembley Stadium.
However, due to a broken arm suffered at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2022, Danielson would not feature on the pay-per-view, instead returning to AEW television the week following to feud with Ricky Starks.
Now with AEW All In 2024 over the horizon, and Danielson's assertions that he will be retiring from full time wrestling around the time of the event, it seems Bryan is more open to the bout. While speaking to The Daily Mail, Danielson admitted that now, Nigel may be able to hang with him in the ring.
"Maybe one day I can get a rematch with Nigel McGuiness at Wembley. I know Nigel was really big on it last year but I at the time I wasn't sure if he could hang with me. Now, he has worked his ass off and got himself in great shape, since then my health has a little bit deteriorated, so now I see that as a real possibility. He and I had some incredible matches that comparatively few people saw right like when you're talking about like the matches we had in 2006 through kind of 2009, the Internet wasn't what it is today. Our generation has such a nostalgia for Wembley and especially UK wrestlers, especially Nigel, has talked about the SummerSlam in 1992 and as an American I never even thought I'd see Britain, so I've just marvelled at this thing."
Nigel and Bryan have not shared a ring together since September of 2009, where Danielson was the victor. It seems McGuinness may still be upset about this fact, as he has shown himself to be Danielson's number one hater from the the commentary table on AEW programming.
Elsewhere in the same interview, Danielson discussed Kenny Omega not being a part of the AEW Continental Classic. You can read more here.
