Buddy Matthews is possibly dealing with an injury.
AEW Grand Slam: Australia featured a AEW Continental Championship bout between Buddy Matthews and Kazuchika Okada. During his entrance, Matthews appeared to hurt his ankle, but the match still went on as planned.
Matthews responded in a seemingly sarcastic fashion after the show, saying in a now-deleted tweet that he wouldn't have "destroyed his ankle" if it wasn't for AEW's small ring. Matthews later followed up by posting a photo of a troll, likely indicating his sarcasm.
On Monday, February 17, Rhea Ripley took to social media to share a number of photos with Matthews, as the couple is currently on their honeymoon. In one photo, Matthews is seen using one crutch. In the other photos, Matthews does not have a crutch.
Ripley captioned the post with a statement that alludes to Matthews rolling his ankle, "Ain’t no Roly-Poly ankles gonna keep us down! Let the honeymoon commence!"
Fightful will continue to update fans on Matthews and his potential injury.
