Bully Ray discusses why a Dudley Boyz reunion isn't likely.
The Dudley Boyz are one of the most beloved tag teams in the history of professional wrestling. Although Bubba Ray Dudley & D-Von Dudley haven't teamed since 2016, fans have started to wonder if another reunion is possible given the news of D-Von's recent departure from WWE. Bubba Ray, also known as Bully Ray, is currently a free agent and works for both IMPACT Wrestling and the NWA.
It seems like a Dudley Boyz reunion is likely off the table though, according to Bully Ray. In a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, Ray said that although they've had conversations about a reunion, D-Von would most likely not be able to pull it off due to his current physical state.
“Physically, I don’t think so because I don’t think D-Von can do it anymore. We’ve had the conversation."
Ray also went on a rant about how he and D-Von have never had issues before, which has been a misconception among some fans of the wrestling community.
"For the world to know, because people on social media take things out of context and run with shit, me and D-Von have been [tight] since day one. There has never been an issue with me and D-Von. All of this shit that you like to run with, these click bait headlines, fuck off. D-Von said Bubba’s got his school, I got my school. Yeah, because I moved out of Florida. D-Von wanted to do a school on his own, this is just normal stuff that went on. There’s zero heat.”
Ray also confirmed that he and D-Von went their separate ways in 2016 because of their differing opinions about wanting to re-sign with WWE.'
“That’s true, it didn’t cause a divide though. I told Vince, ‘I can’t do this Dudley thing anymore. I can’t do this Dudley thing the way you want to do it.’ I did it for a year. Vince sat me and D-Von down and said ‘Here’s what I want you to do. I want you to work with the New Day, help get them over. Work with The Usos, help them get over. Work with The Wyatt’s, help them get over and then whoever else we throw at ya.’ Okay. You got it, no problem. The boss sat us down, this is how much he’s paying us, this is what he needs. You got it. But after a year of doing it, I’m just like ‘Okay, im burnt on The Dudleyz and I know I got Bully Ray in my back pocket.’ I told D-Von up front, I said ‘Listen, I don’t think I’m gonna re-sign.’ So we knew all of this. He re-signed, became a producer with the company. Just recently, they parted ways, D-Von had a great career there as a producer. There was never any animosity with me and D-Von.”
