Cain Velasquez Pleads Not Guilty To Attempted Murder, Other Charges; Pre-Trial Hearing Set For 9/26

Here's the latest in the Cain Velasquez saga.

On August 5, Velasquez attended motion hearings for his ongoing case regarding charges brought against him that include attempted murder, amongst nine other charges. According to MMAJunkie, Velasquez has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and other gun related charges. The hearings were held in the Santa Clara County Hall of Justice in San Jose, California.

Velasquez has two upcoming appearances in court. First, the former UFC Heavyweight Champion will appear in another set of motion hearings on August 29, where his lawyers will discuss further details of the case. On September 26, Velasquez will appear for his pre-trial.

Throughout the duration of this case, Velasquez has been denied bail twice. His second bail attempt is currently going through the appeal process in a California appellate court.

Following his successful MMA career, which ended in2019, Velasquez had a brief stint with WWE. Before and after that run, Velasquez had a pair of matches with lucha libre promotion AAA.
