Carmella Says Becky Lynch Was Planned To Win Money In The Bank Rematch In 2017

Carmella looks back on Money in the Bank victory.

Carmella made his at WWE Money in the Bank 2017, winning the first-ever women's Money in the Bank ladder match. However, James Ellsworth was the one who retrieved the briefcase, tossing it down to Carmella. Due to Ellsworth's interference, a rematch was made for the June 27th episode of WWE SmackDown.

Carmella won again, but according to her, that wasn't the original plan.

"Originally, it was supposed to be Becky [Becky Lynch], she was winning it the second time, that was the plan. We had another match a week later, the plan was for Becky to win it, but because I came on SmackDown after Money in the Bank and cut a promo opening SmackDown. We had physicality later in the night when Bryan [Bryan Danielson aka Daniel Bryan] was the GM and he was supposed to talk about us having another match. The physicality was me on top, I was supposed to knock everyone out of the ring, and because the promo was so good, they changed it to where Becky and Charlotte [Charlotte Flair], I was down and out and they were up at the end of the night because I ended up winning it the following week. I'm so grateful it went the way it did," she recalled on the Nikki & Brie Show with Nikki Garcia and Brie Garcia.

Carmella would go on to cash in her Money in the Bank briefcase 287 days later, defeating Charlotte Flair to capture the title.

Elsewhere during the interview, Carmella discussed her current foot injury. You can find her full comments by clicking here.
