Cassie Lee, formerly known as Peyton Royce, talks about scrapped plans for a WWE women's tag team rivalry that surely would have been iconic.
When Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, The IIconics, became the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions at WWE WrestleMania 35 it felt like the sky was the limit for them. Following that victory at WrestleMania, they would enter a feud with Kairi Sane and Asuka, The Kabuki Warriors, a newly-formed team being managed by Paige (AEW's Saraya).
However, this was not the original plan as they were originally in talks for a feud with Nikki and Brie Bella, The Bella Twins.
Speaking about the scrapped program during a recent interview with DS of Ring the Belle, Cassie Lee says that the feud would have been a dream come true, but sometimes fate intervenes.
"All I know is that we were supposed to go into a story apparently from WrestleMania to the SummerSlam. That's all I know. That would have been great. That would have been a dream come true for us, but everything happens for a reason."
Ultimately, Nikki and Brie Bella never got the opportunity to become WWE Tag Team Champions and while they are no longer with WWE, Nikki and Brie don't believe they are finished with wrestling just yet.
As for dreams coming true for The IIconics, Cassie Lee says the duo's 2018 debut on the WWE main roster was the culmination of a dream.
