Trick Williams will defend his NXT Championship in a triple threat match against Oba Femi and Eddy Thorpe at NXT New Year's Evil on January 7th.
The bout was made official by NXT GM Ava on the December 24th episode of NXT. Trick was the one who suggested the bout, conceding that he could lose the title without being pinned.
Femi believed Trick wanted to beat Eddy, and claim victory over him without pinning him.
After Ava made the match official, the three men brawled with Femi standing tall and holding the NXT Championship.
"I didn't get pinned last week. My foot was under the rope."

Thorpe believed he deserved a rematch for the NXT Title since he was not defeated by Trick on the December 17th episode of NXT. The bout ended in controversy due to a double pin with two referees counting separate falls.
Femi earned his title shot by winning the Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline. Thorpe was originally scheduled to compete in the bout, but faked being attacked so he could talk his way into a singles opportunity for the NXT Title against Trick.
Here is the current lineup for NXT New Year's Evil:
NXT New Year's Evil (1/7)
- NXT Championship: Trick Williams (c) vs. Oba Femi vs. Eddy Thorpe
- NXT Women's Championship: Roxanne Perez (c) vs. Giulia
