New Map Shows State-By-State Choices For WWE GOAT, Courtesy Of BetOnline

Data-driven graphics show who is considered to be the WWE's greatest of all time in each individual state, and there's a look at who is favored to win the main event of WrestleMania Saturday between CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins.

According to geotagged X data tracked by BetOnline.ag, over 80,000 tweets using GOAT-related keywords and hashtags revealed Steve Austin as the leading pick for WWE’s greatest of all time across 17 U.S. states. John Cena followed closely with 16 states, boosted by regional support in the Northeast, while The Undertaker dominated 12 states, and The Rock claimed only three.

Check out the complete data below.

From BetOnline:

"The Undertaker is the GOAT," "Steve Austin is the GOAT," "Stone Cold is the GOAT," "The Rock is the GOAT," "John Cena is the GOAT," etc. as well as tweets mentioning a wrestler's name that also includes the hashtag #GOAT. Over 80,000 tweets were tracked.

As you can see from the map, there are a couple interesting things to note.

1. John Cena has made considerable headway in the "goat" conversation, especially in the northeast (he is from Massachusetts). But this could be due to "recency bias" in that Cena is on his farewell tour and this will be his final WrestleMania.

2. There seems to be a clear regional component at play in general.

3. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and Hulk Hogan won very few states.

4. Wrestlers like Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels... often in the goat conversation...shockingly did not win any states.

Here's the state breakdown:

Steve Austin - 17 states (AL, AZ, AR, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MO, MT, NV NM, OK, SC, TN, TX, WV)
John Cena - 16 states (CT, DE, ME, ND, MA, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, UT, VT, VA, WA)
The Undertaker - 12 states (AK, GA, IL, IA, MI, MN, NE, NC, ND, SD, WI, WY)
The Rock - 3 states (CA, CO, HI)
Hulk Hogan - 2 states (FL, ID)

An additional map shows the state-by-state breakdown of predictions for the winner of the main event at WrestleMania 41, scheduled for Saturday, featuring CM Punk's return to WrestleMania after 12 years, where he will face Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns.

Currently, Roman is favored by most states to get the victory.

From BetOnline:

The map, courtesy of BetOnline.ag, is based on geotagged X data in the last week, tracking tweets, hashtags and direct keyword phrases about who will capture the Triple Threat match between Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and CM Punk.

For example, "Reigns will win at WrestleMania," "Punk will win at mania," "Rollins will win the Triple Threat match," as well smaller phrases like "Reigns will win" that also have a WrestleMania hashtags (#WrestleMania, #WrestleMania41, etc.) were analyzed in the study. The wrestler with the most tweets supporting him to win, subsequently "won" that state.

More than 100,000 tweets were tracked in total.

As you can see from the map, WWE fans seem to be split, but the majority believe Roman Reigns will be victorious, which does make sense as he has not had a marquee PPV win in quite some time (and especially after dropping the belt at last year's WrestleMania, a title run that lasted over 1,300 days).

The state breakdown is as follows:

Roman Reigns - 29 states (AL, AZ, CT, DE, FL, GA, HI, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MA, MI, MO, NV, NC, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, WA, WV, WI)
CM Punk - 15 states (AK, AR, CA, ID, IL, ME, MS, NH, NJ, NM, NY, ND, UT VT, WY)
Seth Rollins - 6 states (CO, IA, MN, MT, NE, SD)
