Cathy Kelley praises Cody Rhodes and Brandi Rhodes.
Cathy Kelley started with WWE in 2016 after a stint with AfterBuzz TV. Cathy was a correspondent for NXT when she first joined the company, doing interviews and hosting.
Speaking to Ryan Satin on Out of Character, Cathy reflected on her start in the company and how the Rhodes family helped.
“That first week, I knew no one so I went in and I was told, ‘Don’t go in as a fan’ by Michael Cole. I was already nervous, I wanted to shake everyone’s hand, I wanted to be respectful and I was second guessing everything. I was just so in my head. I remember Cody Rhodes and Brandi at the time, they kind of helped me in that capacity because one of my first assignments was with them. They were like, ‘Just go in the locker room, shake everyone’s hand, no one knows who you are, it’s all good.’ That really stuck with me, especially in retrospect, knowing what they were going through personally that weekend, that is when they decided to leave," she said.
Cody left WWE in May 2016, but returned at WrestleMania 38 in 2022.
Cathy ended up leaving WWE in February 2020, but she returned in October 2022.
Elsewhere during the interview, Cathy opened up about her struggles during her first run. You can find her full comments by clicking here.
