Chad Gable comes up big against Shane McMahon.
Chad Gable started his day thinking he was facing Elias in the semifinals of the King of the Ring tournament. But an injury took Elias out of the match hours before SmackDown went on the air. In need of a replacement, Shane McMahon could find no better choice than himself, the WWE World Cup Champion and self-proclaimed Best in the World.
Despite the opponent change, Gable quickly dispatched of McMahon in the SmackDown main event. And when McMahon turned the match into a two-out-of-three falls contest, and tried to force the hand of special guest referee Kevin Owens, Gable still got the better of McMahon, tapping him out with an ankle lock.
