Charlotte Flair made her return on the December 30 episode of WWE SmackDown, confronting WWE SmackDown Women's Champion Ronda Rousey.
Flair immediately challenged Ronda to a match for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship. Shayna Baszler tried to talk Ronda, who had just defeated Raquel Rodriguez, out the bout, but Ronda accepted.
Ronda was able to lock on an armbar, but Flair rolled her over into a pin to win the SmackDown Women's Championship and become a 14-time womans champion.
