Charlotte Flair recalls a spot from her match with Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 39.
Flair and Ripley battled it out over the SmackDown Women's Championship on night one of WrestleMania 39. Ripley came out on top in the bout, capturing her first SmackDown Women's Championship, a title that is now known as the WWE Women's World Champion.
The bout was highly praised, with some fans calling it the best match of the entire weekend.
In a new interview with The Michael Kay Show, Flair recalled a spot from the match where she landed on her face when Rhea was delivering a german suplex. 'The Queen' went on to say that she was happy with how she landed, noting that it made the match that much better.
“Rhea and I, this past WrestleMania, had a move in there where for a second I was like, there’s my face in the mat, ow, that wasn’t supposed to happen. I was like, ‘God I hope she doesn’t move, let me collect my breath for a second’, and if you go back, it was one of the best moments of the match, the suplex to my face when it wasn’t supposed to be that. Had that not happened, we would not have got those replays, so to me, I’m so happy I landed flat on my face. It made the match that much better.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Flair recalled meeting Tiffany Stratton for the first time. Fans can learn more by clicking here.
