Chris Jericho Reflects On His IWGP Intercontinental Championship Victory, And Names EVIL As The Next Top Star In NJPW

Y2J is all over the world.

At 'All In' this past Saturday, the current IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho made a surprise appearance on the show and attacked Kenny Omega after Jericho stated for months that he would never work a non-WWE show in the United States out of respect for Vince McMahon. Jericho has been working for NJPW sporadically over the past year and in June he defeated Tetsuya Naito at 'Dominion' to become the first individual to ever hold both the WWE and IWGP Intercontinental Titles.

One day after his historic title win, Y2J sat down with New Japan Pro Wrestling for an interview and Jericho reflected on his title win and what it means to him to be the holder of the coveted IWGP Intercontinental Championship.

“I’ve been coming to Japan for many years since 1991 and I’ve been working with New Japan since 1997 so to win the Intercontinental Championship last night was a great honor, a big deal." Jericho said. "I think I’m the only performer in history to be a WWE Intercontinental Champion as well as a IWGP Intercontinental Champion so its very exciting and its very important to the legacy of Chris Jericho.”

After Jericho's victory he continued his assault on the beaten-down Naito. Naito's L.I.J. stable-mate EVIL then made his way down to the ring to fend off Y2J. Jericho spoke about EVIL during this interview and even gave "The King Of Darkness" his props--stating that EVIL is the next top gun in NJPW but he made a big mistake when he decided to stick his nose in the business of Chris Jericho.

“Well EVIL is… when I look at the New Japan roster, and see who are the next superstars of the company; the next Okada, the next Naito, the next Tanahashi, I think EVIL is one of those candidates." Jericho shared. "But he made a big mistake coming down to save Naito. I know Naito [is] his friend. I know Naito is his senpai, but he needs to mind his own fu****g business and that really made me mad but he’s gonna pay the price. I don’t know when but I hold grudges very deeply, I don’t forget and I don’t live and let die so I will get my revenge on EVIL at some point and only I know when." He continued, "So congratulations EVIL, you made a name for yourself--I didn’t know your name before and now I do and now I can’t think of anything else other than getting my revenge on EVIL, so watch out for that, and its going to happen."
