Things got intense between Hangman Page and Christopher Daniels after the January 1 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Hangman Page brutally attacked Orange Cassidy after their match on January 1. The attack was stopped by several officials including Christopher Daniels. On the January 4 episode of AEW Saturday Collision footage was shown of a backstage confrontation between Daniels and Page. Daniels was trying to sympathize with Page, saying he believed in his abilities to again become AEW World Champion in the future.
At this point, Hangman went off on Daniels and said that when he looks at him, he sees an old man desperately clinging on to a business that left him a long time ago. Page then slapped Daniels, who tackled him and they brawled backstage, with Daniels screaming that he is still the Fallen Angel and that he would give Page what he wanted if he insisted on picking a fight with him.
