CM Punk And Colt Cabana Found Not Guilty Of Defamation

CM Punk and Colt Cabana will not pay Dr. Chris Amann for any damages.

After six days of proceedings, the jury only took two hours to render a verdict of non-guilty in reference to Colt Cabana and CM Punk being accused of defamation by WWE Doctor Chris Amann. They were up against the charges of Defamation, False Light Defamation, and Distribution.

Fightful's Steve Muehlhausen was in the court room when the verdict was read.

Amann had alleged that CM Punk made up much of his story about the reported lump on his back which CM Punk called a staph infection on Cabana's podcast the Art of Wrestling. Amann's legal team attempted to prove CM Punk exaggerated the condition he was in because it fit CM Punk's narrative of poor treatment by WWE.

CM Punk's legal team argued he was re-telling the story to his closest recollection and had no intention of lying. The legal team also argued CM Punk told Amann about the lump which existed before the 2014 Royal Rumble.

Amann's lawyer asked for seven million dollars including one dollar for every download the podcast had. CM Punk and Colt Cabana will not have to pay any of that amount with this verdict.

CM Punk will fight on Saturday at UFC 225 in his second mixed-martial-arts bout against Mike Jackson. Fightful MMA will have live coverage of the fight card.

Fightful also has notes from Day 5 and Day 6 of the trial available from Steve Muehlhausen.
