CM Punk's return to wrestling at AEW Rampage was a big hit, especially for fans at the United Center.
Punk received a monster reaction from the Chicago crowd with fans expressing their excitement and joy at the return of their hometown hero. During his walk to the ring, the camera cut to one fan who was openly crying.
Speaking to ESPN 100, Punk explained why his return meant so much to fans, especially those in Chicago.
"I'm a Chicago sports guy," he said. "I cried when the Cubs won the World Series, I cried when the Blackhawks won the (Stanley) Cup, the times I was alive when they won the Cup, not back in the 60s. It means a lot and it means a lot because I'm so attached to Chicago and sports, especially. I understand. Anyone making fun of that dude, you're making fun of me too. There is nothing wrong with being emotional at sporting events or anything you like. I'll cry at a Marvel movie."
Many in wrestling have tried to locate the crying CM Punk fan, wanting to help him out.
