CM Punk says NXT is special.

Since he returned to WWE in November 2023, CM Punk has come to NXT multiple times. He has appeared on-screen and worked with talent behind the scenes as well. Punk will have a prominent role on the October 1st episode of NXT, as he will be the special referee for the NXT Championship match between Trick Williams and Ethan Page.

Speaking with WREG, CM Punk called his time at NXT the "foundation of youth" and noted that he enjoyed reliving his time in developmental.

“I get to relive those days [in OVW] and enjoy the things that I was maybe too career-focused … that I couldn’t enjoy all the present,” Punk said.

Punk went on to discuss how he thought that NXT was special, as he noted that while most called it the future, it was its own thing. He stated that he wanted the talent to enjoy their time there and stay in the present.

“We all like to say … this is the future. [These are] the future superstars of SmackDown and Raw and WrestleMania. But I think NXT is its own thing. I think they have such a special thing [in] NXT. I really want them to try to live in the present and enjoy their time there," Punk said.
