CM Punk: Darby Allin Is A Talented Kid, I Was Happy To Share The Ring With Him

CM Punk did enjoy working with Darby Allin.

CM Punk made his return to professional wrestling in August 2021, signing with AEW. Punk had been away from the business since January 2014 when he left WWE. Punk's time in AEW lasted just over two years and ended when Punk was fired for his role in a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at AEW All In 2023.

Punk has had many things to say about his time in AEW, but speaking to Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture at San Diego ComicCon, Punk was asked if he had any good moments or memories from his time in AEW.

"Darby Allin immediately comes to mind. Darby is a friend of mine. I don't like talking about myself in this regard because people sensationalize headlines and they make assumptions next thing you know people in the basement are diagnosing my with some sort of psychological disorder. I'd like to think that was a special moment for Darby. Being a straight-edge kid. Being the one that kind of lured CM Punk back into the ring and getting my first match back after six or seven years. That will always be my number one with a bullet because I think Darby is a talented kid and I was happy to share the ring with him. I think we told a nice little story," he said.

Punk faced Darby Allin at AEW All Out 2021, which was his first match since the 2014 WWE Royal Rumble.

Elsewhere during the interview, Punk commented on his return to WWE. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
