CM Punk talks about his rivalry with Maxwell Jacob Friedman during his time in AEW.
CM Punk's most prominent feud in AEW would be his nearly five-month program with Maxwell Jacob Friedman. The rivalry culminated at AEW Revolution 2022 in a bloody Dog Collar Match where Punk defeated MJF in gear reminiscent of what he wore during his time in Ring of Honor.
During his recent interview with Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour, Punk said that he believes that particular program stands above anything else he did in All Elite Wrestling.
"I think it’s head and shoulders above everything else," he said before then reiterating that he enjoyed feuding with him.
Asked if he believes MJF can be a major star in the industry, Punk said his talent is undeniable and he thinks that it's all a matter of presentation because he feels Max. did his best work when he was not catering to a "niche internet audience."
"Yeah, the talent there is unbelievable. I just think it’s presentation and environment. I think MJF is great and where he wasn’t great is when he catered to that small niche internet audience. There is levels. If that’s their audience. Go for it," said Punk.
Elsewhere in this interview, Punk spoke about his final night in AEW, AEW All In 2023 at Wembley Stadium 20 in London, England. Read his comments here.
