Cody Rhodes Defeats Joey Ryan In A Thumb War To Retain IWGP US Title

Joey Ryan strikes out.

Injuries didn't get Joey Ryan and Cody Rhodes down during the recent World Series Wrestling tour in Australia. Ryan is currently sidelined with a torn pectoral muscle while Cody is nursing a meniscus tear. Despite their respective injuries, both men entertained the crowd at WSW over the weekend. After failing to defeat Cody Rhodes in a staring contest and then a rock, paper, scissors bout, Ryan challenged Cody for a third time on Nov. 26. This time, the two did battle in a thumb war for the IWGP US Title.

Ryan will be out of action for the foreseeable future while he recovers from his injury. Meanwhile, Cody plans on competing against Jay Lethal at ROH Final Battle on Dec. 14.
