Cody Rhodes Says He Didn't Have A Plan After Leaving AEW, Thinks He Could Have Gone Back

Cody Rhodes surprised the wrestling world in February 2022 when he announced that he and Brandi Rhodes would be leaving AEW.

Rhodes was one of four Executive Vice Presidents and helped start the company alongside Tony Khan, The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson), Kenny Omega and more.

Rhodes ended up returning to WWE at the surprise opponent for Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38.

"It looked like I had a plan to everybody else, it was a total bluff. I didn't know what the plan was. I certainly could have gone back (to AEW), we could have figured that out and been fine. Something inside was pointing a different direction for me," Rhodes recalled on The Flagrant podcast.

Rhodes has ascended to the top of WWE in the two-plus years that he's been back with the company, winning the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania XL from Roman Reigns.

Elsewhere during the interview, Rhodes commented on wanting "debrief" with The Rock over what happened in the lead up to WrestleMania XL. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
