Cody Rhodes Says 'It Would Be Something' To Bring Back The Winged Eagle WWE Championship

Cody Rhodes famously brought back the classic Intercontinental Championship with the white strap during his run in October 2012.

Should he win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, which is his stated goal upon his return to WWE, he is open to bringing back the famous Winged-Eagle Championship.

"If the ultimate dream was to be achieved, I did do that once with the Intercontinental Title and it took a lot of work, but it was the right call once we got there. I think there is a particular design of the WWE Championship, that people are very fond of, I don't even want to say it, it's two words [Winged Eagle]. Hypothetically, it would be something, it really would be something to do that, achieve the ultimate industry dream and be the best of the best, ever and then perhaps give it a fresh coat of paint with the Winged Eagle, the redundantly named title, that would be something," said Cody on WWE After The Bell.

The Winged Eagle design was dropped in 1998 following Steve Austin's victory at WrestleMania 14.

Rhodes is set to face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania Backlash in a WrestleMania rematch. Roman Reigns, the reigning Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, will be in a six-man tag team match when he teams with The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) against Drew McIntyre & RK-Bro (Randy Orton & Riddle).
