Cody Rhodes Was Told In Advance About WWE Reviving Wargames

Cody Rhodes tweeted that he was told ahead of time that WWE was bringing back the Wargames cage match.

At the latest round of NXT tapings, it was announced WWE is planning the first "official" Wargames match in almost two decades at its next NXT Takeover event in Houston on November 18, the night before Survivor Series.

Dusty Rhodes, Cody's father, is credited with coming up with the concept of a Wargames match for Jim Crockett Promotions, the predecessor to WCW. Wargames is a cage match that pits two teams of wrestlers against each other with staggered entry. The match cannot be won until all wrestlers have entered, and traditionally, the only way to win is by submission or surrender.

On Wednesday night, Cody tweeted out the following:

Cody seemed less enthused with WWE's revival of another WCW fixture, Starrcade, which was a name given to a Smackdown-brand house show taking place November 25 in Greensboro, N.C., tweeting to Michael Hayes that if WWE was afraid a holiday weekend event would not sell and wanted "one of my Dad's events", they could at least book his brother, Goldust aka Dustin Rhodes. Cody's wife, Brandi, was much more straightforward in criticizing WWE for using the Starrcade name.

As for Cody, he remains the current Ring of Honor World Champion and recently signed a U.S.-exclusive deal with ROH.
