Comedian Tom Segura Says He Talked With AEW, But Things Didn't Evolve

In May 2020, comedian Tom Segura famously said, "wrestling is for fucking retards." The viral clip drew reactions from wrestlers including Dolph Ziggler, Abyss, and Baron Corbin.

In the full rant, Segura said, “I think wrestling is for fucking retards but so many people like it. It is the fucking stupidest shit and I think you're a fucking tool if you're like, 'hey man, it's not fake it's fucking fake and you're a fucking idiot. It's pathetic. It's pathetic. You're a pathetic person. [The Special Olympics are fun to go to also] but it's not real, it's not a real competition… that's how the ads for wrestling should be. It should be like WWE. This is for diminished capacity. That should be their tag for the fucking wrestling.”

On the latest Your Mom's House Podcast, Segura claimed that he spoke with AEW, hinting at a potential appearance, but it didn't work out.

"I said stuff that wasn't nice. I was actually talking to people at AEW. I was talking to them. That's the people that own the Jags. That's who I was talking to for a minute. It just kind of didn't evolve. I didn't say anything crazy, I said, 'wrestling is for retards,'" he said with dry sarcasm.

It is unknown when Segura talked with AEW or the details of their conversations.

Segura has also said that he loves wrestling and understands why so many people love wrestling.
