At WWE SummerSlam 2022, Damage CTRL was formed when Bayley returned from injury and brought IYO SKY and Dakota Kai with her.
SKY had also been injured, and was part of the NXT roster, while Kai was released in April 2022.
One year later, IYO SKY cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase to win the WWE Women's Championship from Bianca Belair. Bayley & Kai, who is sidelined with a torn ACL, were there to celebrate the moment with her.
"Beyond words. [To Dakota] thanks for coming back. You always help me. Bayley always helps me a lot. I always appreciate you guys," IYO said during the WWE SummerSlam press conference when asked about winning the title and having Kai & Bayley by her side.
Bayley added, "A year ago, we set out this goal of what we wanted to do and the whole year was so many waves of emotion, so many different things happened. We lost Dakota a couple of months ago. Such a downfall. We had so many highs, so many lows, but we still stuck together. We're still here right now, a year later. [Money in the Bank briefcase] was a big deal. The fact that she walked out with [WWE Women's Title] tonight, beating Bianca Belair, who we confronted last year, brought it all back around."
Kai jumped in to say, "It's a fairy tale. It's very much a fairy tale story with us."
Bayley concluded by saying, "Magic. Wrestling is magic."
SKY cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase on Belair, who had just won the title from Asuka in a triple threat match that also featured Charlotte.
