Daniel Bryan Retains WWE Title In Triple Threat Bout, Crowd Chants For Kofi Kingston At Fastlane

Daniel Bryan escapes Cleveland with the WWE Title.

Earlier in the night, Vince McMahon announced that the WWE Title bout between Daniel Bryan and Kevin Owens would be a triple threat match. It appeared as if Kofi Kingston would be added to the match as he rushed to the ring, being told the WWE Title match as next. But Vince pulled the ol' swerve and sent Kofi out to get beat by The Bar in a handicap match. Don't ever call Vince a liar though as he stuck to his word, adding Mustafa Ali to the WWE Title tilt between Owens and Bryan.

Despite the addition of the popular Ali, the crowd only cared about Kofi Kingston as a loud "We Want Kofi" chant overshadowed the early portion of the match.

To the credit of Bryan, Owens, and Ali the trio worked hard and got the crowd to applaud their efforts. However, near the end of the bout, the Cleveland faithful started another "Kofi" chant. Despite the crowd trying to hijack the bout, The New Daniel Bryan was able to tune them out, catching Ali with a Running Knee out of midair to retain the more sustainable WWE Title.
