Daniel Cormier Shares His Thoughts On WrestleMania 34

DC weighs in on the "Show Of Shows".

Many eyes were tuned in to "The Biggest Spectacle In Sports Entertainment" last Sunday and a pair of those eyes belonged to the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier. Cormier was interviewed by Sports Illustrated and he gave his take on a number of matches that were on the WrestleMania 34 card including; his former UFC comrade Ronda Rousey's performance, The Undertaker versus John Cena, Brock Lesnar's dominance, and the "dream match" between AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura.

Ronda Rousey's in-ring debut was one that blew that roof off of the Mercedes Benz-Superdome and surprised a lot of viewers at home and in attendance. Daniel Cormier was one of those who were surprised by Rousey's performance and praised her and the WWE for putting her in a position to shine.

"I thought Ronda blew the fu… I think Ronda blew the roof off that place. The WWE did a great job of highlighting all of her strengths, right. They put her in spots where she could look like a rockstar, and she did, thought it was tremendous." He expressed.

DC was not too keen on The Undertaker vs. John Cena match that went 2 minutes and 45 seconds after weeks of buildup. Cormier stated that "The Deadman" does not seem as if he can move anymore and does not want to see him "squashing" his opponents.

"I thought The Undertaker-Cena deal was a little weird." He shared. "He just squashed him like that you know", Cormier continued, "Maybe, maybe. You know The Undertaker doesn’t move very well anymore. Its like watching that Andre The Giant thing right? At the end, Andre was like holding on to the rope and sh*t, like barley could get up. Its almost like The Undertaker doesn’t move very well. Like when he did the whole rope walk; it was like one-step, two-step, jump off before you fall off this sh*t. You know like ‘Let me hurry up and complete the move’. So you know, I don’t really need to see The Undertaker squashing people anymore."

The WWE and Universal Title matches were the final two singles championships to be defended on the show. The 20-1-0 Cormier stated that he believes the WWE Championship match could have been better between AJ Styles & Shinsuke Nakamura, but he was impressed by the beating that Brock Lesnar gave Roman Reigns to close out the event.

"AJ Styles-Shinsuke Nakamura was Ok, I thought it would have been a bit better," he continued, "The main event was good, I like the way Brock put it on these dudes. Brock should always put it on these dudes, Brock shouldn’t lose to these dudes at all, like ever. He just smash[ed] on everybody. You know Roman Reigns is a tough guy, I like all of that."

Daniel Cormier has a big fight of his own coming up in just three months. He will be challenging Stipe Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight Championship on July 7th, 2018 at UFC 226.
