Darby Allin On MJF Match: No Matter Who Comes To AEW, The Originals Are Going To Steal The Show

Darby Allin and MJF got AEW Full Gear off to a hot start on Saturday, turning in a bout that some fans have called the match of the night.

The match saw a mix of chain wrestling and high spots as MJF worked over the back of Allin while selling his knee in the process. MJF was able to pick up the victory after blasting Allin with the Dynamite Diamond Ring while the referee's back was turned.

Speaking to Mike Johnson at PWInsider, Allin commented on the praise the match has received and his mentality going into the bout.

"I had a lot going into that match. I wanted to remind people, the fans, the whole wrestling world that no matter who comes into AEW, the AEW originals are going to steal the show. We did just that, I don't care what anyone says. You give me the ball, you're never going to see the ball again. All I needed was a chance. Once I got that chance, I was going to take off running. Going into that match, I had a lot to prove and I felt like I proved it and more," he said. "Just my perspective. I don't give a damn what anyone else is doing in the locker room, I don't even talk to people really that much backstage. This is my own mind, just me thinking and giving the company like AEW, a place where I've been able to thrive, and constantly remind everybody what I'm capable of doing."

Allin will look to regroup after his loss to MJF when he takes on Billy Gunn on AEW Rampage on Friday.
