Dasha Gonzalez, formerly Dasha Fuentes in WWE, says that the reason she wasn't able to show her personality in WWE is “she wasn't a chosen one.”
Appearing on Chris Jericho's podcast talk about her departure from WWE and her arrival in AEW, Dasha admitted that she was never truly given a reason as to why she was let go from WWE but says she never takes things like this personally.
“Things usually happen. Things come and go. There's always ups and downs in the company. I never take anything like that personally. Some doors close for greater ones to open. So, I mean, you stop to think like, man, what do I do? But at the end of the day, I gave it 110 percent, you know, every day that I had I worked five years, you know, worked my tail off for them and nothing personal, you know, just is what it is,” she’d say.
When asked by Jericho how she felt when she started doing interviews after being released and fans started commenting on her personality, Dasha revealed that sometimes in WWE you don't always get an opportunity to show who you are and that's just how it is.
“Yeah. I mean, it is what it is. The nature of the beast, you know? if you're not a chosen one, then that's how it is,” Dasha admitted. “Of course, I was down for a little bit, you know, but I'm such an optimist that I'm not going to let anything stop me and the little engine that could, you know, keep on chugging and keep knocking on doors. I took some time to relax [and] refocus because I was drained. I missed so many, like family gatherings, birthdays, and I was able to like, hang out with my family, and like after it all happened, my grandmother passed away and some family members got really sick and I got to be there for all that. I just kept grinding, kept pushing through, and just kept trying to find the next thing that I was going to do, and it was a blessing in disguise.
Now, Dasha is a part of the All Elite Wrestling family and he's even going to take part in an upcoming episode of Dwayne Johnson Titan Games competition series. Learn more at this link.
