A date for AEW's Battle of the Belts has been revealed.
On November 1, Andrew Zarian of Mat Men Podcast reported that AEW was planning to hold a special event on TNT on Saturday, January 8. Speaking on the AEW Full Gear 2021 media call, Tony Khan confirmed those plans as AEW Dynamite moves to TBS to begin 2022.
“Battle of the Belts” was used as an event name in the mid-1980s by the National Wrestling Alliance, specifically the Florida territory which was operated by Eddie Graham. The events were shown live in syndication, and all three featured Ric Flair defending the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.
During the November 24 episode of Dynamite, AEW announced that Battle of the Belts will take place on Saturday, January 8 in Charlotte, NC.
