Davey Boy Smith Jr. recognizes the talent in NXT UK, but doesn't see the name power in the company.
In February, Smith Jr. confirmed talks with WWE, saying there were plans for him to join NXT UK, but they fell through due to COVID.
Speaking to Hannibal TV, Davey Boy was asked if there could be a UK territory such as NXT UK built around him.
"With all due respect to a lot of the guys there, there's just not a lot of name power. Due to the COVID pandemic, there's no live audience and that's going to hurt things also. I think if they had more name power...if they had Finn Balor and a few other guys. WALTER has some name power. The problem is COVID, they can't draw live audiences and everything is so isolated in the UK. You can't send guys back-and-forth regularly. Hopefully, they can have a waiting game with it and things will look up. They do have great talent, it's just not a lot of actual name power," he said.
Smith Jr. is set to induct his father The British Bulldog into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2020.
Fightful will have live coverage of NXT UK beginning at 4 p.m. ET on Thursday, March 18.
