David Finlay remains confident.
At the NJPW G1 Climax event on August 10th, IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion Dabid Finlay beat NJPW World TV Champion Jeff Cobb in tournament action.
In his post-match comments, David Finlay sent a message to El Phantasmo and commented on beating Jeff Cobb.
“That right there puts ‘The Savage King,’ the Global Heavyweight Champion at a whopping ten points. Now I believe I’m in first place again. We got one singles match left in the block stages, and mine is against good old ELP. Now he’s had his heart broken a couple times, hasn’t he? He’s had a shitty G1, hasn’t he? Nothing to show for, does he? No, I bet you he goes to sleep every night wishing he would have just fallen in line and become a War Dog. You see, where I’ve taken the War Dogs, and you see where ELP has landed himself. There are miles and miles and miles of airspace between the levels that we are on. I am up here, and he’s down somewhere in the fucking basement. So I predict ‘The Rebel’ gets 12 points when this is all said and done. Now, let’s talk about tonight. If I keep throwing these big boys around like they’re nothing, I might just have every championship in the company soon enough. Jeff, I believe I just whooped your ass in under 15 minutes. That means I am unofficially the new NJPW World Television Champion. But that belt’s ugly, so I don’t want it. I like this one way better. Jeff, you are a strong boy, but I promise you, pound for pound, I am the strongest man in this company. I can throw Takeshita around like he’s nothing, I can throw Cobb around like he’s nothing, I can throw anybody I damn well please. That is why I am the ‘Savage King.’ Now, ELP, I look forward to giving you as many powerbombs as I possibly fucking can. So rest up, bitch," Finlay said.
