Deonna Purrazzo has laid down a Title versus Title challenge for the next TripleMania.
On Saturday, May 1, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide held its Rey de Reyes event. One of the marquee matches was for the vacant Reina de Reinas Championship, which was held by Taya Valkyrie before she signed with WWE and relinquished the belt.
A new champion was crowned when Faby Apache defeated Lady Shani, Chik Tormenta, Lady Maravilla, Flammer, and Sexy Star (now portrayed by Hija de Gatubela) in a Six-Way Match. One of the surprises surrounding the bout was IMPACT Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo appearing on commentary with her title in tow. She made her presence felt, in more ways than one, first by denigrating everyone while at the booth. After the match, she went into the ring, laid down a challenge, and got physical.
Deonna began by congratulating Faby Apache on her victory before challenging her to a Championship vs. Championship match at TripleMania. Faby Apache accepted the challenge but was beat up by the IMPACT Superstar shortly thereafter.
The date of TripleMania is currently not known, however, the hope is for it to take place in front of a live crowd in August or September.
IMPACT recently hosted another Title vs. Title match at their Rebellion PPV, where AEW Champion Kenny Omega defeated Rich Swann to become the new Unified IMPACT World Champion. Coincidentally, Omega, who dubs himself as The Belt Collector, is also the AAA Mega Champion.
Purrazzo defended her belt against Tenille Dashwood at the event but was confronted by a returning Taylor Wilde after the bell.
Fightful will have results from AAA's Rey de Reyes event immediately after its conclusion.
