Dolph Ziggler On Title Shot: "A Broken Clock Is Right Twice A Day, Right?"

Not many people expected Dolph Ziggler to walk away with a Summerslam main event slot, maybe not even himself.

The former World Heavyweight Champion Ziggler earned a WWE Title shot on last Tuesday's Smackdown in a six-pack challenge over John Cena, AJ Styles, Bray Wyatt, Apollo Crews and Baron Corbin. While speaking to WWE cameras after the show, he couldn't hide his excitement.

Booker T On WWE Women's United States Title: It's Needed. It Gives Women Something To Compete For

"I don't believe it, my parents don't believe it, the fans, the WWE Universe, they didn't see it coming. You know why they didn't see it coming? Because for some reason the last, I don't know, two years I haven't been myself. I haven't been my happy self, looking to go steal the show -- I don't even do that anymore. Tonight, I sent a message. SmackDown Live, the very first one, we go to SummerSlam," Ziggler said.

Ziggler was also well aware of the fact that he may have been the biggest underdog in the entire match. The significance isn't lost on him, but he knows that he's not exactly favored to take home the title

"I walk out with John Cena, AJ Styles, Bray Wyatt, the new kids who have been making a name for themselves, all of them in the ring at the same time and somehow I won. A broken clock is right twice a day, right? Every once in a while I steal one and when I do I make the most of it, and this time it's the biggest one I've ever had. I promise, no matter who the champion is -- and this time it's Dean Ambrose and we faced off and I felt the energy coming off of him and I wanted to go right now -- at SummerSlam, there is going to be a lot of marquee big matches and there's going to be one that stands out as the best. Not because of talent, not because of high flying, not because of moves because there's a real story of emotion here. This is going to be my moment and the entire world is going to be watching. Dean Ambrose, I wish you the best of luck because I'm not going to need it," said Ziggler.

WWE Summerslam takes place August 21 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
