In 2017, Don Callis joined New Japan Pro-Wrestling as a commentator for their English broadcasts. He continued his commentary work for the company through Dominion 2018.
During his time in NJPW, Callis was influential in his role of bringing Chris Jericho to the company to set up a Wrestle Kingdom 12 match against Kenny Omega.
Callis is once again aligned with Omega in AEW and IMPACT, and with Omega having it written into his AEW contract that he can appear in NJPW, fans have wondered if Callis could possibly bring him back to Japan.
"I see my business with New Japan as being done. When I went into New Japan in 2017, they were on one level. When I booked Jericho vs. Omega at the Tokyo Dome, their entire business model changed. Their revenue went up exponentially. They've been riding the Don Callis effect ever since. There is nothing left for me to do in New Japan. Anything I could do in New Japan now would pale in comparison to the game-changing nature that I did three years ago. I have zero interest," Callis said on Sitting Ringside with David Penzer.
In an interview with TalkSPORT, Callis commented on a potential match between Omega and Kota Ibushi. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
Callis is set to join Omega on Tuesday's episode of IMPACT Wrestling.
Fightful will have live coverage of IMPACT beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
