Drew McIntyre made history at WWE WrestleMania 38.
At the event, McIntyre faced off against Happy Corbin in a match he'd been seeking ever since Corbin and Madcap Moss injured him backstage at WWE Day 1. Not only did Drew defeat Happy, but he became the first person to ever kick out of Corbin's 'End of Days' finishing maneuver.
Speaking with Rich Ucchino on the Bleav in Pro Wrestling podcast, Drew reflected on the moment he got his shoulder up off the mat, praising Corbin's reaction and explaining the importance of losing the audience in the match.
“I could feel it when I was lying there. I could see when I was watching it back and I could see the reaction of the internet. People went, ‘Oh God, Corbin’s won it.’ And that was the point of the match where we had them. And that’s what it’s all about. No matter what you think you know, it’s catching the crowd. Losing them in the match. And that was the moment where everybody got lost 100% and his reaction to it was great.
The stunner has been kicked out. Claymore’s been kicked out. As long as it’s done in the right occasion, done the right way, and enhances what’s going on in the ring, you know, there’s nothing wrong with it. So it’s cool to say I’m the first one that did it,” McIntyre said.
Up next for Drew is a Six-Man Tag Team Match at WrestleMania Backlash in which he will team up with RK-Bro to face The Usos and Roman Reigns. Corbin, on the other hand, will be facing Madcap Moss as the two had a falling out following WrestleMania 38. To view the updated card for the event, click here.
