Eddie Kingston gives his take on Gabe Kidd.
In May 2024, Eddie Kingston and Gabe Kidd had a match at NJPW STRONG Resurgence. The match was praised by many fans, but the aftermath was disastrous, as Kingston suffered a tibular fracture and tears to both his ACL and meniscus during the bout.
Since the match, Gabe Kidd has continued to build his career up, defending the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship against names like Ultimo Guerrero and Tomohiro Ishii. Kidd even got the chance to face off against Kenny Omega at Wrestle Dynasty to kick off 2025.
While speaking with Will Turner of Wrestling With The Narrative for a new interview, Eddie Kingston said that he isn't made at Kidd for the injury because he was just trying to win the match. 'The Mad King' also questioned Kidd's authenticity, citing his ties to Bullet Club.
“Only thing with Gabe Kidd, you know, I’ve read things and seen things. I’m not mad at Gabe for what happened because he was trying to win a match and it happened. That’s it. I’ve done that, you know what I mean? You’re trying to win a match and next thing you know, something bad happens to your opponent and you take advantage and that’s it. Would he be having this run now if he lost to me probably? No. But, the one thing that I don’t like that Gabe does, that a lot of people do, especially this generation I guess you could say, is that nothing’s authentic and everything’s a lie, everything’s fake. The reason why I say that is because Gabe sits there and says how much he loves New Japan and how much he represents New Japan and it’s in his blood and all that jazz. Then why are you part of the Bullet Club? I don’t understand. Has anyone even asked him that or have they all been caught up in his bullshit?"
Kingston then learned about the WAR DOGS recently being kicked out of Bullet Club by Evil.
“Did they really? Gabe got kicked out? Good. Good, that’s what you get. Maybe now he can stop bullshitting and really show that he loves New Japan.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Kingston provided an update on his physical and mental health. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
