Edge is staking his claim as the biggest Toronto Maple Leafs fan, because why not!
Speaking with Tim Micallef and Sid Seixeiro (video clip above), the WWE Hall of Famer was asked about the hockey memorabilia on display in his house, and whether or not he wants to be the new Steve "Dangle" Glynn.
Dangle is perhaps best known for his Leafs Fan Reaction (LFR) videos, currently in its 14th season, in which he recaps and reviews every game the Blue and White play. Those are filmed in what he calls "The Blue Room," which is exactly what it sounds like, a blue room filled with personal effects relating to the team and his experiences working in the hockey-sphere.
Edge replied by saying that there is no competition between the two and that he is leaving Steve "in the dust." The Rated-R Superstar then showed off his collection, which included 6 goalie masks (Mike Palmateer, Michel Larocque, Wayne Thomas, Curtis Joseph, Ed Belfour, and Felix Potvin), a photo of the 1967 Stanley Cup-winning team signed by 19 of those players, and a custom Toronto Maple Leafs World Heavyweight Championship belt (with Canadian spelling).
The conversation then turned to the team itself, to which Edge stated that he feels really good about this season, but as a Leafs fan never wants to get his hopes too high. He loves the roster depth and what General Manager Kyle Dubas accomplished over the summer, in particular the signing of Wayne Simmonds, who he has wanted to see in Toronto for a couple of years now. Edge concluded by pointing out the bizarre correlation between injuries and nicknamed players that seems to be plaguing the team at the moment.
"The only thing is right now it feels like there's the curse of the nickname. Jumbo [Joe Thornton], Soupy [Jack Campbell], The Train [Wayne Simmonds], all down with injuries. I think we gotta stop nicknaming people, so never nickname Auston Matthews. Ever!"
The Maple Leafs are currently sitting first in the NHL's North Division with an 11-2-1 record, last defeating the second-place Montreal Canadiens 4-2 on Wednesday, February 10th.
Steve Dangle released the following reply on his Twitter account:
"Hello, Edge. I caught your appearance on Tim and Sid and I couldn't help but overhear you chirping my Blue Room and calling out my Toronto Maple Leafs fandom. To that, I gotta say, it's an honor to be called out by the Rated-R Superstar himself. The owner of one of the most illustrious careers in WWE history. More importantly, the owner of one of the grainiest web-cams I've ever seen in my entire life. Grainier than a bowl of All-Bran. As long as we're talking about The Buds, I am the biggest Leafs fan in the entire world. I've been a bigger Leafs fan than you since you were line-mates with Christian and Gangrel. No need to brood on it, it's just the truth. Edge, at the end of the day, we're both Leafs fans, but who is the biggest? On this day, I see clearly."

Edge heard Steve's words and hit back with a retort of his own, cutting him down, mercilessly.
"Oh, hi Dangle, if that is indeed your real name, not a manly realistic name like Edge. You know last night I saw your video and then I sent the Edge signal blazing across the starry indigo evening sky to my worldwide legion of Edge-minions, and none of them knew who you are. Except for Frank, the Maitre D at the Swiss Chalet on University, and he told me that you are a professional appreciator. How does one get that degree? [Picks up action figure] What's that little Edge? Sorry, my 244th action figure has told me that you attained said degree by Rolling Up the Rim to Win. Now since you don't have theme music that I can quote and you've never hung out with a gang of cool vampires, your claim to fame is that you are a Leafs fan. Like the rest of Ontario and half of Canada. See, I'm a Royal Rumble winner meaning I can challenge any champion, yet you're a champion of nothing. Huh, if I had a soul I think I'd feel bad right now. Lucky for me. But you cut a heck of a promo kid, so you have a future doing something, maybe as an auctioneer or a tarot card reader, or a carnival barker. Now if this was just a cheap ploy to try and get a signed 8x10, you can just ask me because I am a benevolent dict... man. But the one thing that we can agree on is that by the power of Bunny Larocque, Go Leafs Go."
Edge... please do not tell my wife or son this is the best moment of my life https://t.co/fa3Ucv6Vbi

In addition to his LFR videos, you can catch Steve, alongside Adam Wylde and Jesse Blake, on the Steve Dangle podcast. He also does "Dang-Its" and "Hat-Picks" for Sportsnet. In 2019 he released a book titled This Team Is Ruining My Life (But I Love Them): How I Became A Professional Hockey Fan.
Edge won the 2021 Royal Rumble after entering the match from the #1 spot, becoming the first person to do so since Chris Benoit in 2004. He has yet to announce which title he will challenge for at WrestleMania.
